Mr. Tarnoff brings to the company over 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience. His most recent positions include CEO at Houston Pharma, Inc. (and its subsidiary Potomac Pharma, Inc.), CCO at ViroPharma, Inc., and led a $1.5 billion U.S. business unit for AstraZeneca. Mr. Tarnoff has held a number of roles in executive management and progressively responsible positions in corporate development and commercially based positions across a wide variety of therapeutic areas in both the hospital and primary care settings.
Jie Du Ph.D.
President & Founder
Dr. Jie Du is a seasoned scientist and entrepreneur. She is one of the founders at Frontage Laboratories, which started its operations in 2001. Frontage has since grown into a multi national contract research organization (CRO), serving pharmaceutical clients in North America and Asia. After exiting her holdings at Frontage, she has been active as an angel investor of life science start-ups. In 2008, Dr. Du founded JDP Therapeutics. She is leading JDP in becoming a significant player in pharmaceutical innovation and development.
Dr. Du’s pharmaceutical experience extends 15 years at Abbott, Merck and Mutual pharmaceuticals. During her tenure of increasing responsibilities at these companies until 2007, she led activities in pharmaceutical product development, project management, legal/patent strategies, product portfolio management, clinical development, and regulatory areas. Dr. Du is also a brilliant initiator on pharmaceutical strategies. Her patents (assigned to Mutual Pharma) on Metaxalone (Skelaxin®) were licensed to King Pharmaceuticals for $35 Million plus future royalty. The patents enabled King to significantly extend Skelaxin®’s product life cycle. Prior to starting JDP Therapeutics, Dr. Du served as the Director of Scientific Affairs at Mutual Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharma company in Philadelphia. Mainly in charge of clinical studies, she was one of the key corporate members responsible for the company’s outstanding growth from ~$50 M annual sales in 1998 to ~$600 M in 2007.
Dr. Du’s endless creativity has made her a renowned inventor of many U.S. and international patents. Dr. Du earned her Ph.D. degree from School of Pharmacy at University of the Pacific in California.
Ramond Tobey, MD
Vice President, Medical Affairs
Dr. Raymond Tobey is currently a medical consultant serving the pharmaceutical industry. He has been involved with drug development on a full-time basis since 1982 and as a clinical investigator for many years. His initial industry position was with Merck, where he headed the Phase I-III clinical team for respiratory diseases. Subsequent positions included increasing responsibilities in clinical development focusing on allergy, asthma, anti-infective agents, immunology and dermatological products. His most recent industry position was Vice President of RD at Dermik Labs. Highly recognized by his peers, he served as President of the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians in 1998. As a consultant, he has advised many companies on the development of new therapeutics.
Dr. Tobey received his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Asthma Allergy and Immunology.
